Canvas bulletin board

Hello everyone. I have a new project to show you. Lately I have been obsessed with canvas. I think it is because I saw something in Scrapbooking Studio and wanted to try to re-create it. And my craft club decided to do a canvas project this week. So here is what I made. (I am not sure it is exactly like it should be because I had to miss class. My husband's grandmother passed away and we had to leave town to attend the funeral).

Anyway, here is the project.
Items used:
11X14 stretched canvas
2 sheets 12x12 patterend paper
2 flowers
Scroll cut with Cricut
2 strips ribbon (one for bow, and one to go across bottom of page)
3 magnets
Wording of your choice
Metal cut 5X7 (not sure what kind, but very thin metal)

For Fun Challenges

I made the following card for the For Fun Challenges.  Read their blog, participate in their challenges, and have fun. It is more fun to participate in because there are no prizes, so all levels of craftmakers participate.

The challenge is color - mostly blue with a little white/cream. I used blue cardstock and cut it to a 4X5 card. I put a layer of white card stock next and then a block of white/blue patterned paper. To add the hearts, I used my punch and cut 20-30 hearts and glued them to the page. The cross is in Navy blue ink and the "Get Well Wishes" is in a brighter blue ink.

Hope you like it!  Now go to For Fun Challenges and join in.

Family Pictures

For our family reunion this year, I wanted to do something different. We always take pictures; I post them on Facebook, but does anyone print them out?

So when I was in the Scrapbooking Studio about a month ago, I bought a new Tim Holtz die. It is Tim Holtz Sizzix MATCHBOOK SET Dies Movers & Shapers. I saw the demo from the store, but wanted something more original. The demo just had small pieces of cardstock with some pictures on it. After talking to my son, Nick, we decided it was a matchbook, so why not add matches?

Well, this was a long, tedious job. Here are the steps to creating this:
  • Cut out matchbook die
  • Decorate matchbook with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and embellishments
  • Print out photos
  • Cut faces with small punch
  • Score matchsticks
  • Cut matchstrips (about 1/4" wide)
  • Adhere faces to matchstick with popdots (one face per matchstick)
  • Adhere matchsticks to die cut
I had to do this 13 times and there were 27 people to include on matchsticks. It took a lot of time but it was well worth it.

Cute Stamp From Ranger

While I was at a papercrafting class a few weeks ago, I found a cute stamp from Ranger. It is a dYlusions stamp - Ruby Rainbow. There are 9 pieces to this stamp: the girl's head, her body, 2 umbrella tops, the pole, boots, a full umbrella, and a set of wings. What makes it fun about this stamp is the coloring. You will have endless possibilities for this. I used my Stampin' Up markers to make this card. I also used Tim Holtz distress inks to make the outline of the card.

Back in the Swing

I went to a class yesterday on making chipboard books. Most of the ones I have bought are ones that the letters (if you are spelling out a word) are already cut. Well, last night I learned to cut my own. Not sure that I like this, but oh now I know how! :) Anyway, I think I will try to do some on my own. When I get an inspiration, I want to start making it now, not wait until I order one and it comes in. I also found a new place I am going to view -- Scrapbook Stamp Society. I am doing to Link Up for Pink blog, and I saw a real cool short brown haired girl, with big eyes. I have to go find that stamp! Now I think I am back in the swing of scrapbooking/creating. Good thing - I need to use my stash so I can buy more.

Long Time No Post

Well, I have been slacking with my posting. I've still been crafting, but not had time to post. But now, I am back at it. Let me tell you some neat things I have been doing.
I have been learning some Tim Holtz techniques. I have falling in love with Distress Inks. This might be old school for some, but for me, I am new to it. I am learning how to blend and how to make a drab piece of paper look bright and colorful.
Right now I am taking Tim's Creative Chemistry 101 class. I am learning all about the differences in inks, stains, paints, and learning to do all kinds of things. I will post my projects at the end of next week. Watch for some exciting things to come. Until then........
